Webmaster & Mentor Liaison

Alisa is a Neurobiology & Physiology and Health Policy dual degree at UMD from Bethesda, Maryland. Alisa is a part of UMD's pre-med professional fraternity PhiDE, Federal & Global Fellows, and involved in Gemstone leadership. She plans to pursue both a career in medicine and the public sector. In her free time, she enjoys going to concerts, thrifting, and eating sushi.

Michaela is pursuing a major in Physiology and Neurobiology, with a minor in International Development and Conflict Management. She plans to pursue a career in the health field, specifically as a clinical pharmacist or physician assistant, where she will provide healthcare both in and outside of the United States. She is currently a member of Terps For Change, tutoring elementary school kids in the DC area.

Team Researcher

Aaliyah is a rising sophomore majoring in General Biology with a pre-med track. She is from Ocean City, Maryland, but has also lived all over the U.S. including Montana, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. She is involved in the Charles R. Drew Pre-Health Society, as well as an initiative to promote diversity and equal opportunities for POC within UMD’s Honors programs. In her free time, she enjoys baking desserts and watching true crime specials.

Ananya Krishnan

Team Mentor Liaison

Ananya is a Neurobiology and Physiology and Anthropology double major from Darnestown, Maryland. She is also an Anthropology TA and is involved in multiple research projects and organizations related to global and reproductive health. In her free time, Ananya enjoys singing, trying new food, and traveling.

Laura is a Chemical Engineering major from Potomac Maryland.

Team Mentor Liaison

Jerry is a Neurobiology/ Physiology major from Gaithersburg, MD. On campus, he is involved as the treasurer of the American Red Cross Club, a UTA for BSCI207, and an EMT at the College Park Volunteer Fire Dept. Outside of academics, he likes to watch movies and play with his dog.

Ryan is a biology major on a pre med track who is excited to explore CRISPR. Outside of Gemstone, he works as an undergraduate research assistant at the Tissue Engineering & Biomaterials Laboratory. In his free time, Ryan enjoys exercising, playing video games, and playing golf.

Team Researcher

Isha Yardi is a Public Health Science major from Gaithersburg, Maryland. Outside of Gemstone, Isha is involved in independent research labs and a number of health equity projects both on and off campus. In her free time, Isha enjoys rock climbing, traveling and reading.

Library Liaison

Katie is majoring in Cell Biology and Genetics, and minoring in LGBT Studies. She is planning on pursuing a career in research and enjoys studying evolutionary genetics. Outside of Gemstone, Katie is on the UMD club paintball team.

As Liaison to the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, she supports the research information needs of faculty, staff and students.

Younggeon Jin, DVM, PhD

Dr. Jin is an assistant professor at the University of Maryland with expertise in epithelial biology and Gastrointestinal Health/Physiology.
